Caitlyn Dettrich: MSW, RSSW, Psychotherapist
Hello, and welcome!
My name is Caitlyn Dettrich, and I am a registered Social Service Worker (RSSW) in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I recently graduated my Master of Social Work (MSW), and will be pursuing registration as an RSW.
My path into psychotherapy has been shaped by deep commitment and understanding the human experience through both academic study and frontline clinical experience. I began my education by completing a Social Service Worker diploma, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Social Development Studies, and now an MSW. Throughout my education, I have focused on developing a strong foundation in mental health, trauma-informed care, social justice, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
Over the past six years, I have worked within community mental health, housing stability, and nonprofit settings, supporting individuals facing a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, OCD, hoarding behaviours, trauma, and a life transitions. My professional experience includes clinical assessment, treatment planning, individual counselling, and case management.
A significant portion of my career has been dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing hoarding disorder. In this specialized role, I have collaborated with clients, families, healthcare providers, housing professionals, and community partners to address the emotional, psychological, and practical challenges associated with clutter and acquiring behaviours. This work has deepened my understanding of trauma, grief, attachment, shame, and life experiences influenced by mental health and personal circumstances.
My clinical practice is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), harm reduction principles, trauma-informed care, and person-centred approaches. I am committed to ongoing professional development through regularly pursuing additional training to improve my clinical skillset, and strive to always provide care that reflects current best practices.
The heart of my work is the belief that meaningful change happens through genuine human connection. Therapy is not about being judged, fixed, or told what to do. I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative partnership where we can explore challenges, identify strengths, and develop practical tools, while creating space for healing and growth at a pace that feels right for you.
Whether you are navigating life transitions, general mental health challenges, or hoarding behaviours, my goal is to provide compassionate, authentic, and a supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and understood.
Seeking support takes courage, and I am honoured to be part of that journey.
